Garmin Forerunner 935 (XT) - how is it as a BIKE computer?

Morning Hubbers,

Looking at getting the Forerunner 935. Currently using an Edge 520 and an ancient Forerunner 15. I absolutely love my 520, and the 15 is basic enough for the relatively little running I do.

What's making me decide about getting it (935) or not is how it is as a BIKE COMPUTER. To those who know the 520, you know that the screens are amazingly customizable, with lots of data at your fingertips, and I've grown accustomed to it.

Feedback will be appreciated!

Lekker C,

If your looking for something more than I bike computer the 935 will blow your mind away.  It's got so many features and being an wrist based HR monitor as well you can collect so much data from everyday activities including sleep etc.  You'll love this watch if you want to have the bigger picture of your training.

If your looking for bike specific I guess you would want to mount it on the handlebar so effectively the wrist based HR goes out the window and the screen is only so big (They've trimmed the sizing a bit from the previous more bulky models and it's now round as opposed to rectangular).  I would therefore put it down to personal preference, what and how much you want to see while cycling.  You can still have customized pages but obviously a bigger screen will provide more space for stuff you want...It will track everything else the same as a bike specific GPS if you like looking at your data afterwards.  I find that on my mtb I rarely look at the gps while cycling and rather focus on the trail, but on the road I still use my Edge 800 as the screen is a bit bigger and I can see my customized pages as a wish.

Like I say, personal preference, but if you have a 520 already I would not necessarily buy the 935 just for cycling.
