Bracket for water bottle cage

hi all, wondering if anyone could help. I have a GT Zaskar, and one of the lugs that you use to mount the cage on the down tube has broken. Though I would use this opportunity to try and fit a bracket with a Spec swat kit. I recall there being a thread on someone who makes these brackets. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Those are called rivnuts, a decent lbs should be able to fit a new rivnut for you.

And while you are there, kiss your warranty goodbye, drill a third hole in your frame and gave them fit a third rivnut there for the spez lunchbox.

If you decide against fitting a swat kit, you can replace the rivnut yourself. A dremel like tool and a R5 rivnut from a nut and bolt place. You will need 2 nuts and a bolt to fit the rivnut. YouTube it.

I can't tell from a google search whether your GT is carbon or not, but i'm guessing its aluminium?
Either way, I had my carbon frame take a hit against the bottlecage, breaking a rivnut out, took it to one shop, they screwed it up badly and it was loose again very soon, so took it to a carbon repair shop, the repaired it perfectly. Point is, just be careful who you take it to- it seems like many will say they can fit new ones and not actually know what they are doing. Unfortunately this shop is in JHB so probably no use to you

Decided I’m going to take it to the Carbon Ninja in Durban... he does magic with carbon fiber so I’m sure Aluminium won’t be an issue ????
