No idea and stupid in my opinion

It’s the best bike in their range.

They will be bringing out standard Epic and then a Epic with 120mm front and back as well.

I’m sure there will be some or other marketing BS why this is better but it’s just a change to continue with sales I would guess.

Just like the Scott Spark RC and Spark 900 series.

I had a 2016 Camber 120mm aluminium which I tricked out with lots of nice stuff to make better. Great on downhill - too good as it allowed me to do things I should not. Ok as a climber, better than my Anthem. But on the flats! A dog! It fairly lumbers along like a Great Dane pooch. Never again. I will go back to a Giant Anthem 29r.

If I had to ignore the marketing BS that will come and go with the trends that are happening I would have to say it’s cost saving.

Spez have gone into huge cost saving drive( they have laid off a large number of staff)

They cut the ladies range( which they marketed for years) and now only have one range( which means one carbon mold for frames) and only diffs between men’s and woman’s bikes are colors, saddles and grips.

In doing away with the camber they can use the epic mold to make a long travel bike which will be more cost saving.

I personally think a long travel Epic is going to be flimsy and can’t replace the current camber but at the end of the day as with ALL bike manufacturers it’s about PROFIT.

Bike prices are pretty much getting to their limit so one of few ways to increase profit is to cut production costs which is what is happening.

The next step is doing away with shops and going online ( but we probably 2 years away from that and YES even Spez will go that route.)

Except the Camber front triangle is the same as the Stumpjumper FSR, so getting rid of the Camber doesn’t drop mould numbers.

So basically the new Epic will be the camber with two bottle cages, awesome.

Both great bikes (new Stumpjumper vs Camber which is discontinued). I personally think you'r getting better value for money with the Scott. 11 speed GX etc is bombproof but you do NOT get the range you get with 12 speed Eagle. It's way off.

The Fox transfer is voted by some bike mags being one of if not the best.

The remote allows for reduced 85mm travel which makes the bike way more efficient for the climbs, you are enabling your pretty slack seat tube to be less so without resorting to additional air pressure. It's a winner.

Yes Trek too, Fuel EX is a hot bike and won bike of the year award with MBR. http://www.mbr.co.uk/reviews/full-suspension-bikes/trek-fuel-ex-5-29-review

Which reminds me, where does one mount a second water bottle on cambers with dropper posts?

In your cycling jersey :) It's really no big deal to get to it. I've tried a Rapstrapz tie down on the top tube but it didn't stop the bottle moving and on a wet day sand got it and the back and forth made interesting shapes in my paint! :(
