Chris NewbyFraser Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 I want to put a 27.2mm seatpost into my 30.9mm Giant carbon frame. To do this I need a seatpost shim. I can only find a 30.8mm shim for the job. Can I use this slightly smaller shim or will it not clamp tightly and stress the carbon seat tube too much.

I was having a lot of seatpost slipping issues at one stage until I measured the seatpost and found it was 30.3 mm in a rather than 30.8. That small of a difference was enough to make it slip no matter how much I tightened it.
