I need to get a road bike for the following reasons:

- Ride occasionally with the roadies in family?

- Get my speed on an MTB up by doing long boring high cadence rides.

- Ride about 4 100km races a year including 94.7.

So far the bike that I think seems to be the best bet is:

TYPE

Road Race Bikes

BRAND

SCHWINN

MODEL

Fastback

PRICE

R5,995.00

Any other suggestions as I see Merida, Silverback and even Felt have bikes in my price range?

I would agree, that Schwinn is a lot of bike for your money. I think that the Silverback Arizona goes for a similar price, but the Schwinn is much better looking.

You may even find a 2007 105 specced bike for that price. I saw a Silverback Montery at a shop in PE for R6999.00
