MTB Tyre Maintenance Fail - Schoolboy error.

I run tubeless on my 29er but Wendy still has 26" wheels with inner tubes on her GT. She's happy with that so no worries.

At the end of last year, after what turned out to be her last ride before Winter, we cleaned her bike and put it in the barn as normal. The weather took a turn for the worse and what with one thing or another, she didn't ride again until last week . . .

So, over winter the bike sat in the barn and was probably only moved once or twice in months. Turns out that the tyres (well the rear one anyway) had water inside them and as they sat over winter the pool of water sitting at the bottom of the wheel rotted away the fibres woven into the rubber. With no fibres to hold it straight the rubber where the bottom of the wheel had been took on a weird "S" shape  on the rim, which Wendy noticed before we even got to the end of the drive.

One new tyre later and everything is fine, but I shortened the life of a perfectly good tyre by not checking inside the wheels (or at the very least, regularly spinning them) over Winter.
