Trainer Road erratic power readings

So i recently upgraded my Garmin 500 to the Garmin 520. I use the speed and cadence sensors on my IDT linked to Trainer Road app. Ever since using the 520 speed sensor on the rear hub, i'm getting very erratic power readings on the TR app - I'm using an older TACX Flow trainer - so i'm training with virtual power and not smart trainer.

With the older magnet speed / cadence sensor from the 500 the power readings were fairly smooth.

 

I emailed TR and tried all their remedies

 

Tyre Pressure - check

re-calibrate the trainer - check

increase pressure of wheel on the trainer roller - check

mounted the sensor backwards / forwards on the hub - even mounted it on the spokes

 

Nothing works ?

 

Anyone else experience this ? Is there a fix ?

Why not revert back to the old sensors? IIRC, they will work with the 520

That would be a solution, but wanting to sell the 500 as complete, maybe reduce the price and sell it without
