Hi guys.

I'm quite desperate here so if anyone can assist it will be much appreciated. I am a few days out from doing the Lowveld tour. I was doing some bike maintainance, cleaning, putting my racing wheels in. And now I discovered that my right hand shifter is stuck. The rear derailleur is all the way down on the 11T, and I can't get the shifter to work to pull it back up the cassette. I push on the brake lever and it doesn't have any give. And if I push the paddle to release there is also no click.

I do not think my cable is snapped because I pulled on it inside the frame's access panel (internal cable) and I couldn't get it to come through.

Any ideas what's happening guys?

If I were you I would change the cable completely. This happened once on my STI and it was busy fraying on the inside. so not completely off. STI was also stuck and when i got it to work again the cable snapped completely.

So before a tour replace the inner and outer cables.

I've just recently replaced my cables. It got serviced about two weeks ago with fresh inner and outers. But I will get the shop to have a look and see what's gojng on and replace as necessary

So figured it out. Turns out the cable had become un-anchored inside the Shifter. So the Shifter was moving. But wasn't grabbing on the cable. The cable end part with the knob on the end had somehow just pushed out of the Shifter or something. Not quite sure how. Probably had to do with me manipulating the rear derailleur while installing my rear wheel. But it's fixed! So much relief in the land.

Leaving for the Lowveld tour tomorrow!

And you are sure you don't have a sticky cable or housing issue somewhere? Sometimes when new cable housings are fitted and the ends are not clipped nicely and checked to be clear you can get a nasty hangup also.

Good luck.
