  1. Maybe for fitting a mud guard
  2. I finished nr 16 this year from 4B. I enjoyed the general positive vibe of my fellow cyclists and had a relatively quiet CTCT. The wind reminded me of descending Chappies during "The Windy One". Big shout out to Farbar for sponsoring some solid fuel at the water points. Your marketing worked, and I will definitely be using your product in future. I met some Belguims in the finish village who seemed to have enjoyed their first CTCTs despite training on a billard table near Brugge.
  3. My strategy is more long-term than just treating cramps during rides. I cut gluten (bread), alcohol (sad but true) and processed meat and increased my vegetable and salad intake. Taking Slow Mag before my rides seems to help as well.
  4. You do not need a VPN for the World Cup Races and GCN.
  5. Are there any race day shuttle services from Knysna to Uniondale on the morning of the race?
  6. I have looked at that for an upgrade.
  7. 24" is the correct size. Get a bike with good geometry, riding position and light (er) weight. My 9-year-old rides a Scott Contessa. The riding position inspires confidence and she handles the bike with ease. The top tube is slightly lower which helps them straddle the bike. She does however struggle with the twist shifters. I set the brake levers closer to the bars and made sure the brakes work well. I would not go for the Marvel or Avalanche bikes. I paid the school fees. Rather get a known brand that makes proper kids bikes (Scott, Giant, Titan etc)
  8. Thanks! I have no problems with installing parts, just wanted to know if this product is worth it.
  9. Have anybody used this BB30 to 24mm Shimano adapter? https://switchbacksports.co.za/products/bb30-pf30-universal-adapter-for-shimano-cranks?variant=29457719689315 I am busy with a project bike that has a BB30 bottom bracket and crank. I want to fit a 24mm spindle crank.
  10. The frame geometry makes it hard to match exactly. A friend of mine managed to get it close way back in 2006. It did make for (in my opinion) an uncomfortable mountain bike. Maybe experiment with wider bars/stem lengths on your mountain bike. On my bikes, I only matched the saddle position compared to the bb. For the rest, I adapt.
  11. The brake pads have these swivel washers. If you look closely, you will see that they are different thicknesses. On my kids' bikes, I put the thicker washer set between the brake pad and cantilever post. This moves the posts outward.
  12. Rode Clarence drive from Somerset West to Betty's Bay. Had lekker coffee at Coffee on Clarence
  13. It is not clear what you mean by a more suitable gear ratio. The ratios you describe are already quite light (I ride 11-28 with a 53/39 crank). Regardless Your hub can take up to a 10-speed cassette. So to upgrade you will replace: Shifters, derailleurs, cassette, crank and chain. Personally, I would just put an 11-32 cassette on and keep the 9-speed 105. I recently made a similar change to my father inlaw's old 8spd road bike (I replaced the 11-25 with an 11-32 cassette)
  14. For safety, yes. The Kayamandi stretch is known for bike jacking and general mugging.
  15. Lots of options around here. Please, where ever you ride avoid the R304 past Khayamandi. That 3km stretch of road is very dangerous.
