Hi I'm currently running a fairly decent and light wheelset the dt Swiss m1700s but was wondering if the mavick slr would be worth the money and be that much lighter or going with a carbon wheelset or would it not be worth the money as the m1700 is already a decent wheelset. Thanks.

Depends what your budget is, but I wouldnt go for mavic slr (narrower rim profile) if you already have the m1700s. Also what do you want out of the wheelset;light weight, fast engagement etc.

If you want faster engagement then you can buy a 36t ratchet to replace the 18t that comes standard with your wheelset(halves the engagement time).

My 10 cents worth

which M1700 spline wheelset are you using? 25, 30 or 35? I'm assuming the 25?

And which Mavic wheelset is it specifically? Crossmax SLR is a discontinued product.

New carbon wheels are

Crossmax Pro Carbon

Crossmax  Elite Carbon (26mm internal width)

Crossmax Pro (aluminium) 22mm internal width.

I do like how responsive the Mavic Crossmax wheels feel under acceleration and steering
