Hi Guys and Girls,

I recently bought a second hand 2014 27.5  Fox 32 Talas Factory FIT CTD w/Adj:

https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=31

The previous owner sold it to me as a 150/130mm and told me the fork is in need of a service. Upon receiving the fork, I found that the travel is only 130/110 mm and wrote that off as needing a service. Sent it in for a service at my LBS, and still  only have 130/110mm of travel. (guess I got shafted by the previous owner)

Now 3 months later, my Tallas completely stopped working. I can't engage the lower travel setting anymore. Sent the fork in for a service again, received it back yesterday, and the Tallas is still not working. They supposedly can't fix it as you don't get the spares anymore? But upon inquiring if the fork has the mechanical or hydraulic Tallas cartridge, the bike bike shop could not answer me.

AS far as I know, the 2014 has a hydraulic Tallas cartridge (i think its the tallas 5), and from looking at the drawings on Fox's website, it should be repairable/serviceable?

Has anyone had similar issues with the tallas forks? If so, can it be fixed? Or am I stuck with a bum fork?

Take it too droo

Plan to do so if all else fails. Can't be off my bike too much at the moment though as I am riding bo-piketberg and K2C. And need some more training time as well. Already lost about 3 weeks of training between being sick and the service

TALAS are fiddly things. Once they start acting up there's not much to be done with them.

That said, I've got a few spares lying around, so when you do get a chance (like when I eventually figure out your clunky Marzo) I'll be able to check it out.

Best thing for them, though, is to just fit a Float spring at your preferred travel and leave it there.

Thanks for the feedback Andrew.

Will try pop in some time. Like the whole talas idea, lower front end to assit with climbing, flip the switch and extra travel to descend. but guess that is most probably out the window now.

Just a quick question. Is there any way I can figure out what the correct factory travel of the fork is? Can't find any serial number om the fork. would like to somehow verify if it is indeed a 150mm or if I got taken for a ride by the previous owner

Also, thank you for taking the time to sort out my 66

2014 was before their product codes kicked in, so it's a bit of a hack. The easiest is to pull it apart and measure the spring.
