Bontrager R1 tyer compared to conti 4000s

Different levels of tyre - the R1 is an entry level tyre whereas the GP4000 is a top end racing tyre...

 

there will be a difference in the ride quality and feeling yes, however I would recommend doing your training miles on the R1's and save the GP's for race days...

Unless racing every weekend I don't see the point of having race day tyres. Tyres have a shelf life. If you don't use them the rubber gets hard regardless of use. So you end up throwing barely used tyres away.

 

I'd fit the GP4000's and donate the Bontrager R1s'  to a club that supports some development riders from a less financially fortunate background
