Wider rims, wider is better but.....

...they dont tell us mounting tyres will be a lot harder.

Carbon deep section, 25mm wide. I am having issues getting GP4000s onto the wheels. Its impossible fitting them without levers. Strangely Gatorskins go on abit easier.

Question is, what tyres are easier to fit onto these wide rims ?

Are the GP5000 any easier ?

Or other suggestions for something thats on the same level as the GP4000/5000 ?

Any tyre that goes on easier is going to pose a risk of rolling off the rim if you puncture or worse, when descending a long mountain pass and you you need to brake a lot.

Carbon rims also have a thicker bead socket to add strength so that makes fitting tyres even harder.

If this is an issue for you then maybe consider some high quality HED Belgium rims/ they're alloy but probably the best wide alloy road rims around.

Also consider Boyd Cycling Altamont
