Fork damper (?) assistance

If it's erratic I doubt it's oil level. Pull the compression damper out and see what's going on with the damper foot and lockout plate, there's a thread on a similar thing from earlier this week. No need to let the air out, 2 completely different circuits.

Only other thing I can think of - you haven't extended travel at any point during your tweaking process?

Just a question. What if the travel had been reduced? Could that have an influence ...

Reducing wouldn't cause issues, Extending can because the stanchion tubes can sometimes pop out of the lower bushing.

Ok so today my son had a bit of free time at the shop so we took the whole damn thing apart ... Found a problem, not easy for me to explain and didn't think to take pictures but I'll try!

First took the rebound cartridge thingamabob out and it still felt the same so realised it had nothing to do with that. Then removed the air shaft ... Hopefully @Droo will know what I mean here!

The last piece that goes onto the shaft where the circlip goes was not just about 1cm but longer ... Don't know how to explain it better. Had a 'sample' we were comparing from a wrecked fork lying around, took that one fitted it and now it is so smooth and works a treat [emoji41]

If you wonder how that may have happened keep in mind that the fork had been put together from bits and pieces I had lying around and what I pilfered from the shop [emoji12]ca0db201d3c3e34822abcf54881a1784.jpg
