Hi All.

Ok so this has to be a pretty stupid questions to those that own these units and I have read up a fair bit on them but for some reason no one talks about how it reacts when you dont follow the route.

So if anyone could answer some of these questions for me it would be very helpful

1. Do you have to be at the starting point of predefined route or can you start it at any point in the route and it will take it from there?

2. What if mid route I decide to go one street up from the current one and join back into the route later. How does the routing react to this?

3. Does it force you to go back to to where you left the route before continueing the route?

Thanks

I've got an Edge 520 Plus so I'll explain how mine works. I'd imagine they're all similar.

1. Do you have to be at the starting point of predefined route or can you start it at any point in the route and it will take it from there?

No you can start at any point and the device will figure it out. There is an option to navigate to the start when you first begin and if you do select this you can just dismiss it and carry on with the route as if you started at the beginning.

2. What if mid route I decide to go one street up from the current one and join back into the route later. How does the routing react to this?

You will be told you're off route and the device will try and navigate you back on-course. Once you're back on the route, even if it's further along and not following the device directions, it will carry on as per normal.

3. Does it force you to go back to to where you left the route before continueing the route?

No, you can rejoin anywhere you want to. While you are offroute you will get frequent notices about this. These can be dismissed to return to your normal screens.
