Olympics at sportsmans at R550 are not bad at all, seen a few riding with them..

Bought a pair of Answer MTB shoes from Cycle Fusion for R500 few weeks back, turned out be too small, so Kevin gave me a pair of Shimanos ( last pair in range ) for R500... love them big style...Big%20smile

lol BB

a mate would let you have them for a few cold ones !

mmmm this is going to be as tuff as buying the blinkin bike.

Just read bicyclings section on getting shoes. According to them, I will need stiff shoes, carbon/plastic soles, possibly. But maybe this is a bit much. Might be better to get more entry level shoes and when I feel I will spend more time pedaling, than pushing upgrade to good shoes.

I have the carbon sole Shimano's (sorry can't remember the model number). They are very robust and were quite reasonably priced (I think about R 1300). Have now lasted me two years.

For the fashion conscious, white Sidi dragons seem to be the rage!

SB - I trained/raced with a pair of those cheap takkie types (Scott) for a long time and they were fine. Bought a good pair when I could afford them.

My son has a pair of Specialized Pro's, very happy with them (2years, no visible problems).  And this is in WC conditions, mud, rain, river crossings, mud, dust, rocks, mud.....

On the other hand, I have used a pair of Olympics for the past 3 years and they are still going strong (at about 60% of the cost of the Spez's)

i bought shimano mtb shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes that i have ever had.

which ones did you get?

slowbee in the shop' date=' what i often offer newbies is those takkie-like adidas or shimano shoes. teh sole if more pliable, so they're easier on the knees.

HR I suspect I will have this super uber cool bike, and takkie like shoes .... but makes sense for a newbie
