CO2 Cartridges on South African Airways flights

So now my question is, how do they get those Co2 canisters imported, all by boat?

 

And then letting my mind wander a bit further. That Inflate able life jacket under your seat, how does it get inflated when you pull the string? BY A CO2 CANNISTER OF COURSE....

I often fly with co2 cannisters in my saddlebag with the bike box .If you don,t mention it to them ,they let it go .If you tell them you have them in your bike box they will ask to have them removed .What worries me more is that i have a pepper spray canister attached on my gate opener that i use when cycling ,so that i always have it with me .This year i have flown four times with the mentioned pepper spray in my hand luggage .
