Evil wreckoning still a good buy?

Good day all

 

Have anyone ridden Evil Wreckoning In the Cape Town area.Looking at buying used one but just a bit worried about the slack seat tube angle and how it peddals.Is it still a good buy or is the geo a bit out dated.

Great bike to ride - especially in the rough stuff.

The Wreckoning is a BIG monster truck.  I almost want to say it is too big for the trails we have in the Cape Town - Stellenbosch area.  I would not want that as my only bike, but I do not know how you ride and what your riding style is like, so it is difficult to tell you yes or know. I have not ridding one but most people that I have spoken to that has or had one all said the same, it is a lot of bike and you need to get that up the hill. 

 

On the seat tube angle side.  I have a Following and as far as I know the seat tube angle on them is the same.  You can have any seat tube angle one the bike, it is just a number to give you an indication.  What you want is the correct fore/aft position for your saddle.  Measure your current seat height from saddle from rails to centre of bottom bracket and write it down.  Take a plumb line and drop it from the tip of you saddle down and measure the distance from the line to the centre of the bottom bracket and write it down.  See if you can replicate this numbers on the Wreckoning.  I am able to get my preferred position on the bike, but the saddle is quite far forward on its trails. 

 

I don’t think the geometry is out dated on the Wreckoning but I do think you should ask yourself the question if you really want such a big bike.

If you want to go really fast over big stuff, it's a great option. But it needs to be ridden fast and hard to come alive, or it can make otherwise fun trails a bit boring.
