I feel it is my duty to now set the record straight.

My problem has now been sorted out by Jason in all of 10 minutes flat. I have received a more than adequate solution to all of my gripes.

Upon investigation of the length of time it has taken to sort out this matter the fault has been with the dealership and NOT with Garmin in any and all respects.

I would now like to formally extend my apologies to all the staff at Garmin for taking out my frustrations on a public forum for something that was NOT your doing or to which you had no controll over.

Jason once again a big thank you for your understanding in the matter and you quick response in sorting out something that ultimately was not caused by you or your staff.

I beg to differ!! If the dealership represents Garmin then Garmin surely need to control (appoint & fire) who they conduct business with!!! Same issue I had with some DSTV installers who were trying to rip me off. Multichoice tried, true to form, to fob off the whole matter as being out of their control yet they accredited the self same rip off artists in the first place. Love the way a lot of SA buisneses conduct their business practice......"Pay me and f*ck off" seems to be the standard approach!!

The unit has been processed and replaced with a brand spanking new one. It should be out for delivery via Ram on Monday' date=' latest Tuesday mornig. Well, looks like my job is done here, i am sure to see some of you at Wlakerville this sunady, keep the black stuff on the dusty stuff.[/quote']

Jason Thanks for your efforts :)  They must just make sure I receive it and not anyone else. ... :)

Garmin 705 just arrived Clap

Took a bit of stick from the dealership who was pissed that he did not get his handling fee but anyways.

A few observations

Unit looks much better in black

It is a little larger than the 305

Buttons are more visible

The joystick function is much better for menu navigation

Will now resort to reading the manual and getting a few rides in to see what this puppy can do.

Thanks again to Jason at Avnic for sorting this out

I had a problem with my Garmin 305 at Knysna would not turn on. Turns out it was and ID 10 T interface problem.

Forgot to switch the plug on so ended up with a unit that was not charged.

My 305 is the bomb. Just wish it would last long enough for the Trans Baviaans anybody have suggestions.

No hijack intended. Maybe Jason could advise.

Thanks.

Maybe give Avnic a call on 011 251 9999 and go through to the technical guys ... Jason has helped and is still helping, but i think it is fair to rather follow the technical route, both for yourself and for Garmin :)
