I was just wondering what tire combo's are being used on MTB.

I know that some people are running different makes and model tires for front and back on their MTB's.

I just wanted to see what combos are being used and why?

1.9 Small block 8 (folding) on the back - good rolling resistance, but will need to change for winter

2.0 Maxxis Mimo (folding) on the front - reasonably light and grippy on the corners. Reasonable in mud.

A riding mate of mine runs this combo the other way around Confused

At the moment I am running Smallblock front and back. Wanted to replace the rear tire for more grip but I think I must rather change the front.

It keeps on sliding in hi speed corners. I dont mind when it happens with the rear but not that nice when the front tire starts slipping20080630_235251_cheeky-smiley-0.gif

That is why they tend to run a more aggressive thread on the front.  I also running SB8 at the moment but can't seem to start trusting the front tire especially on hard pack with small stones on top of it.

A combo I would like to try is a Conti Mountain King on the front with a Race King at the back but the Race Kings are to expensive at the moment.

Maxis X mark on rear, with Maxis Ignitor on the front.

Dunno why though, probably only cause the tyre i had on the rear got damaged and the Maxis X mark was going on special.
