Unbelieveable. Adam continues to impress. He's getting stronger and stronger!   We have to officially upgrade Adam's FTP after reviewing today's file.   The first hour of the stage, his Normalized power was 412 watts, and if you subtract out the first 12 minutes of the stage, Adam averaged 422 normalized watts.   So, I am changing his FTP from 400 watts to 412 watts, since we have a confirmed 1 hour of NP at that wattage.
For the entire stage, his Normalized power was 353 watts~nearly 4hours.
Something happened to either his wheel magnet or speed sensor about 47 minutes into the stage and we lose his 'speed data channel'.
His team orders are pretty clear based on looking at his file.... "Cover all the early moves to prevent from any dangerous riders getting up the road and then at the end make sure you lead out Cavendish for the win."   He did his job well.  Another day in the yellow jersey for team leader Kim Kirchen and 1st and 2nd places for Mark Cavendish and Gerard Ciolek.  Very impressive the for American Columbia team.

I would hate to know what his TSB is by now!

What I find quite suprising is how low his heart rate is. Whilst I can't tell what his max is, it must be at least 190. His average for the 1 first hour is 156, which is supposedly his threshold. That seems way low. I suppose it could be explained by the consecutive days' racing.

Yesterday is was -86.9, before the stage!

HR appears to become suppressed with fatigue, so it is probably a lot lower than normal - files give his maxHR as 193 and LTHR as 175.

Well that puts his ITT in perspective.  He was clearly saving himself for some hard teamwork.  Awesome display, but can't his FTP actually be higher than 412 seeing that he maintained it and then kept on going strong?

I would agree 100%.  1 hour at FTP by definition means you are finished, nothing left in the tank!

To do that at the start of the stage, then be able to do the leadout that he did, tells me his ftp is somewhat higher - I'd put him at 5.7w/kg or 430w.
