Was great!! One unbelievably nice route!

 

Did the mtb race at Wolseley.

 

Did the 65km route, with some long tough climbs, and some really rocky sections, sand, water, bit of everything.

 

And the bike handled it all beautifully.

 

Its definately a harder (read stiffer) ride than my previous frame (Merida FLX team edition), so I'd probably ride a little lower tyre pressure, and still need to find the right settings for the FOX fork, but overall, very chuffed.

 

And to top it all, Johnny Kritzinger won the race on the same frame....

Thats great news man! Glad you are happy with it. Will check out the bike next week when i come and see you at your shop... Maybe i will bring you the 1.25Kg Spinner fork to test on your shiny new Schwinn

And dont forget a nice light-weight mtb wheelset.......

 

But since the "jockey" on the bike need to loose almost the same amount of weight that the new Schwinn, I'd need to loose plenty of weight before there will be any further "weight weenie" upgrades.....

Then you can replace the Ringle' hubs with red Token ones and gold pillar Ti spokes. Will go nicely with the rest of the bike :-)

Spinner Aeris Pro suggested weigh is 1250 grams

 

Obviously 300 grams difference.  

 

And if you just swopped out the tyres to an exception bead you would save 340 grams.

 

So 9.75 - .640 = 9.11 Kg

Would rather play it safe, as its pointless having superlight tyres but loose 10min by fixing punctures....

 

Got PLENTY other ideas too:

-SLR saddle (-100g)

-Merida rigid carbon fork (-900g) (1550-650)

 (for non technical races like Hell & Back...)

-Ti skewers (-60g)

-4Ti Eggbeater pedals (only once I get below 80kg myself) (-90g)

 

So could even get in under 8kg to rival the Merida Target 8....

Hey WW your the shop owner ;-) Peronally I would look at fitting some Schwalbe Furious Fred Tubeless Tyres, they come in at around about the 440 gram mark, lightrest tubless tyre on the market, for a 2"

 

So far with all upgrades you are looking at 7.76 KG with rigid fork and and Furious Freds.
