question for the cycletech fundies:

I train on a wahoo kickr 2 using TrainerRoad.  Over the past few weeks I have observed inconsistent and highly variable resistance loading on the kickr.  I have done multiple recalibrations both directly on the wahoo app and the TR app but the problem persists.  See attached screenshot of the power curve. FYI the blue blocks are the ride profile power setting and the yellow squiggle is the actual power when pedaling.  Usually the yellow line maps almost exactly to the blue ride profile

Any idea why it is doing this and troubleshooting suggestions to sort it out?

I would recommend testing with another training app, such as Zwift, or a free alternative to isolate the issue. Alternatively, if you have a Wahoo bike computer, you could use it to control the resistance on the trainer directly.

The key takeaway from this test will be to determine whether the issue lies with the app or the trainer hardware.

Is the tr app changing the resistance at all when it need to go up or down?

Have you tried to disconnect or forget the trainer in tr and then adding again?

make sure that only the tr app is connected to the trainer
