Hi everyone,

I hope you're all good out there.

I have been putting together riding videos for a little bit and I feel like I have come up against some diminishing returns now with regard to making them better. I'm not sure where to go now and what I should be doing to improve. I thought I would come out here and get some critiques and critisisms, positive or otherwise, to get a feel of what I'm doing right or wrong.

Please let me know what is good about the videos or what I'm doing wrong or any feedback really would be genuinely appreciated. You can even let me know what sort of content you are looking to see or what locations are underappreciated and I'll see what I can do in the future.

The latest video is linked here.

I like the following:
- Great to watch riders following other riders
- You all seem to have a good time, always great watching people having fun
- Full sections of trail gives the viewer a good feel for the ride

Things to consider:
- What are your objectives with the videos? Are you creating a bit of an online riding diary for you and your mates, are you looking to get others to ride the trails you showcase, or are you looking to create content and attract followers?
- What you have currently is great for your friends and family to view
- If you are looking to attract others to ride the trails you are showing:
* Show the sections you ride on Trailforks / Strava and putting the links in helps viewers to go and find these sections to ride as well.
- If you are looking to create content and attract followers, consider the following:
* Try to make the videos a bit shorter. Unless I know you, or you are Greg Minnaar, I probably will not be watching 18 minutes. You rode a couple of trails, so try to split these into separate clips.

I enjoyed watching that a lot, but probably would have scrolled out of it if you hadn’t asked us to look. Not because it was boring (it wasn’t) but it’s long.

So, as stated above, plus:

I would show that this trail is in South Africa and indicate it on a world map and that this isn’t a trail covered by snow for half of a year - I would do this in writing, not spoken;

Overlay with music except for when there’s laughing and whooping

Emphasis on the smiles and high-fives

Show a send and fail of the ride

Sadly our Saffa accents are not well understood by many, and some people even think we’re speaking another language or heaven forbid think that we’re Australian, and you may lose foreign views.

I watched yours a few days ago quite by accident. I liked it and it was good to see what The Glen looks like these days. I didn't finish watching it because it was a bit long and I felt I'd got enough out of it by that point

I will watch the whole thing later but the footage looks good so far..

so far, background music esp during the sort of B real footage.. and a bit more upbeat narration.. enunciate properly etc.. emphasis on your syllables.. its a bit un enthusiastic..

Half the video length.. in design we subtract until your story can’t possibly be edited down any more..

keep shooting footage and play around with editing techniques and follow tutorials online.. YouTube is a wealth of information..

Whats the current setup? I assume you have a chest rig with a small gimbal.

Video quality, its good!

Maybe too much wind noise, they do sell wind puffs or wind cases for nearly all good action cameras.

Only other critique would be the editing, maybe some cut ins/outs of the trails, words in cooler fonts/effects. Intro effects, etc.

But fun overall, if I was interested in looking at that trail for research purposes, I would definitely watch the full thing.
