Giant Trance x E Chain

Good afternoon Tech Guru’s 

My LBS recently replaced the chain on my Giant Trance X E Pro. The replacement chain is a Shimano CNM7100 (it’s an XT drivetrain) My gears don’t seem to be shifting as smoothly and I experience the odd involuntary gear hop. My questions are

Is this a compatible chain or should I revert to the original specced chain? 
Could this be the issue with shifting?                 
Could a chain (other than the original spec) damage the casette or chainring?

That is a 12 speed chain, so should work fine with the 12 speed XT drivetrain. The skipping could be down to a few things ranging from a stiff link in the new chain, to needing some cleaning, to some fine tuning to a needing a new cassette or chainring. Best to take it back to the shop and ask them to assist

How many km on the :

- cassette ?

- chain ring ?
