On 03 May 2025 - a bunch of runners had club runs and set up gazebos at water points where drinks, water etc where given to runners. The clubs involved to my knowledge were Runners of Hope and Fourways Road Runners

On the 03 May 2025 around 10:00 this photo was taken on the R540 - the trash from the runner's water point was collected and put into a neat pile. I took the picture and gave the benefit of the doubt that this would be picked up later by the club/s involved.

Today, Sunday 25 May 2025 these photos were taken:

It is apparent that the neat pile of trash was never picked up by the people responsible for Water Point 1 and has now spread around.

Very disappointing to see the litter that the runners/support/water points have left.

If anyone has a contact at any of these clubs - perhaps they could be notified to clean up the mess.

Thank you for posting this. Litter was still there a week ago. I saw it too.

I acknowledge some cyclists drop grl wrappers but some of these runners and their teams are really bad at littering.

I commented on Runners for Hope press release on their FB page and got spinn and denial, saying they sent people to check and that the rubbish would have dispersed by now and it's other runners....cr@p.

I've raised it with the officials that look after matters government in the Cradle and my idea of a pre-event deposit was well received.....hopefully they just apply SOME pressure in future.
