Hi all, flying over from Australia to Pretoria for a 4 week break and want to ride MTB while i'm here. I've got my scott spark and a bike bag. SAA conirmed no charge if I want to bring it over. I've never flown with a bike and it all seems like a bit of a mission to get the thing partially disassembled, packed, protected, then reassemble. Not forgetting any small bits like pedals, spares, tools etc. Not to mention the risk of damage or theft.

Now I'm wondering if it's not better to just rent a bike for like a month. Are there that type of companies that do that sorta thing in Pretoria? Or where else can I get a loaner for like a month? I'll bring my riding gear and a set of pedals. Much simpler? Haven't been back hom in Pretoria for two years so out of touch with what's available.

So the final question: would you fly with your bike or rent a bike?

Thanks all
