Magene crank based power meter

Hi guys i need your help

 

I'm looking to buy a Magene P515 power meter from AliExpress from Magene's official store. Does anyone have any experience with ordering from them through AliExpress? Or if there are any other recomendations that people might have please say, any knowledge will be helpful.

 

Also, if anyone is selling a crank-based power meter that 24mm spindle and 16mm crank length, please contact me as I'm looking for one.

You are gonna get a lot of hate for not supporting you LBS or local distributor. But they can eat dirt, because they are shafting using the pricing. The local markup is almost R4000.

Magene is quite reliable as a retailer on Ali. But just make sure you dont use the free shipping option unless you are in no rush to get the product.

Also looking to get my second unit.

Im not really that bothered about that. I can only see the free shipping option, where do you select the paid shipping option?

They have an option to ship with DHL.

Click on the arrow next to free  shipping

There will be a pop up for DHL

Oh i see. The weird thing i see on your aliexpress is that your order can come on the 13th where my earleist even with paid shipping is the 26th of april.

AliExpress is covered by speedaf, no more SAPO. It takes about 2 weeks to arrive with the free option.

I import allot of stuff via Ali. Like Micheal mention, stuff is been handled via Speedaf and Meili couriers, SARS on there case because they disclose the custom cost. 

But the shipment is fast, especially with the fight going on in the east, allot of flights isn't going via Dubai but direct flight. We had KLM heavy landing at FACT this week to drop of Cargo. 

I bought a ThinkRide powermeter last month from Ali and I can't complain. All and all with customs and stuff it was about 2950.

Okay thank you. I know it's 15% VAT on all items and then depending on how the officer feels that day it could be an additional costs. What was your experince and do you know roughly how much extra you pay?

With Meili it kan been anything between 30% 50% plus. If you import anything via one of the bigger names like fedex and dhl, then they give you a proper layout. I imported some parts out of the states last year Nov, it was 45% on my product price with the new import laws. 

The crank via Ali was R2400 and the customs/vat via Meili was R535, i think they add there handing fee in that price to.

So what your saying is if i order the crank which is 5100 i'd probably pay a extra 3000?

It can be a hit or a miss but you can work arround R1000 to R1500 or maybe less if you take the free shipping option and it goes via Meili them. I know some of the people gave taken on meili them with SARS and then they drop the customs cost.

Okay thank you. I'll keep looking for around a week for a power meter before i order off ali
