London - The leader of England's main opposition Conservative Party has been reunited with his bicycle - minus its front wheel - after it was stolen from outside a supermarket earlier this week.

The Sunday Mirror newspaper said David Cameron's bike was tracked down to a side street near the west London store using the local contacts of a community leader. Cameron was at the shop to buy groceries.

Cameron, who met US presidential hopeful Barack Obama in London on Saturday, was quoted as saying he was "delighted" to be reunited with the mountain bike, describing it as "like an old friend".

He had joked Thursday that he was considering introducing Sharia law - the Islamic law code - for bicycle thieves after news of the theft was made public.

Fingerprints have been taken from the bike to determine who stole it, the weekly added.
