Please be advised that the Harmony Cycle Club (WP) at its Annual General Meeting held on Thursday, 14 August, unanimously decided to change the name of the club to the New Balance Multisport Club (WP). This follows the decision by the Harmony Goldmine at the end of last year to withdraw from all sport sponsorships.
 
The members further decided that:-
 
-  The membership of the all Harmony (WP) members will automatically be transferred to the New Balance Multisport Club.
 
-  New kit and licences will be phased in between now and the end of the year.
 
-  Licensed riders? CSA licenses will be changed as and when they receive new kit.
 
-  The benefits of being a New Balance Multisport Club member will apply immediately.
 
-  Funds currently in the Harmony account be transferred to the New Balance Multisport Club and apply in support of cycling members
 
The meeting also noted that there will be one constitution that covers all disciplines. The constitution is available on request.
 
The Western Province Cycling Association has subsequently approved our request to change the name of the club.
 
The club will be managed by a two-tier structure of management:
 
-  General affairs managed by Central Committee
 
-  Committee of subsections, representing a particular sport, manages the affairs of that section. The meeting decided that the current cycling committee continues to look after the affairs of our cyclists
 
This exciting development makes it possible for members to participate in running, swimming, triathlon or canoeing. They can do so with immediate effect without having to join another club. The cost of the New Balance Multisport Club kit and license for a particular discipline will, however, be for the member?s own account
 
The New Balance Multisport Club offers:
 
-  One club  -  various sporting disciplines
-  Guidance and support to novices
-  Administer license applications for all its members
-  A family of New Balance athletes
-  Funky New Balance kit
-  Support at selected races
-  A regular newsletter In Balance that will keep you informed
-  Players discount on shoes and apparel for members at New Balance outlets
 
Affiliation with the different provincial bodies will be finalised as and when the membership of the particular discipline meets the minimum requirements of that discipline. Cycling and running have already been affiliated, and swimming is next in line.
 
We believe that the New Balance Multisport Club in the Western Province can and will take the concept of a sports club to a new level. It will add a new dimension to club membership and will undoubtedly add value to all our members.

How does this affect the Harmony team racing in Gauteng?

I'm not sure of their structure.. maybee coetzee could comment?

Are they part of harmony club, or independantly sponsored?

When I was at Mailott Jaune Cyles last week I asked Merckx about it and it sounded like Harmony also sponsored the club. He said their are plan to get another sponsor but he wasn't too sure
