Boonen's 0 Watt Leadout

Am I seeing things, or is Boonen's leadout man's wheel off the ground here? Not very efficient - that's putting out 0 Watts

naaah... its at least 10 watts to turn the wheel - even if its off the ground

I'm reffering to the resulting watts on the ground - I guess, that there'll be some power going through the front wheel as a result of him pulling on his bars...

 

I wonder if he created tire smoke when his wheel touches the ground again.

You can see the little groove in the road which his wheel must have hopped over.

He is the leadout man, this is his way of slowing down sufficiently so that Boonen can get past him. He wouldn't want to embarrass Boonen and finish ahead of him.
