New Wheels - Advice Hand built or boutique?

hmmm, 520gr grams is rather weighty. I'm not planning of mountain biking with them so maybe I should stick to the CXP33...

Iagree the aero profile is a stronger section for a rim but really would not the weight penalty.

So lose rims would be:

Mavic CXP 33

DRC ST17/24

SUN-Ringle`

What ever happened to Gipiemme, Miche? and the French rims like TA,

Ok I've made up my mind.

Seems my 2003 Record hubs are indeed bricks. The 2007/2008 hubs are vastly lighter @347 for the hubset and relatively cheap at just over R2K at totalcycling.

Laced to Ambrosio Excellight SSC rims with Sapim CX-Ray Aero Spokes I can meet my objective of sub 1500gr wheels, that are easily servicable, long lasting and future proof. All that for under R5k.

I pays to do some digging and not just flash the plastic on some over priced visual tuning wheel like Mavic Ksyrium..
