If you are 1.74m then I think the 19,5" frame is gonna be on the big side for you.

 

I am 1.75 and the biggest frame I have ever owned (not used) has been 18"

 

If you can get the one size down from that I think it would probably suit you better.

 

The Scott Scale frames are really nice and medium would probably suit you unless your proportions are way out

Not really recreational, but not 100% XC-race geometry. Its a killer bike with great value for money. For the money you won't regret it.
