Mar Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Morning all.. I have a Garmin Etrex Legend (older version, no colour screen) and would like to know if there are any 3rd party software out there other than map source to get more info from the garmin - stuff like route profiles.

Mar Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Yes I have the Data cable, but its an older version of the Etrex.... So it still uses "serial" connection But I have a serial to USB converter.

Loon Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 then a second Q on Spikes...Is there a way of getting an IP/MAC address from a Garmin unit to ping for connectivity. Cause the RS232 converter cable is picked up on USB, but the Garmin unit is not. So how can you confirm connection is established?
Mar Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Loon I downloaded a driver for the RS232 converter and the Software then picks the GPS up on com port 3. Thanx for the software links, they are great!
