Holdfast Economy J Bolt

Any experience with the above bike rack, don't want to buy something that is flimpsy seeing that our bikes is not in the 7 kg league.  

 

The above one I can get for R 350 for the 3 bike rack new.  The other option is a secondhand Holdfast rack with the 2 "arms", the guy is looking for R 700.  Which way to go ?

Its a really cheap rack, but i've never encountered any problems. But I wouldnt use it for a long road trip. Have you considered those raleigh carriers?

And I want it for long trips.  Would you rather look at the "double arm" one then at that price for secondhand ?  The raleigh ones, hav'nt seen them yet but don't know if I can trust that "clamp onto the ball" method ?

That one ?   I see that is the one with the arms, which i also think would be more trustworthy than the cheapie 1 arm.

I've got a 4 bike holdfast with 2 arms, and have had it loaded with 4 steel bikes, for a 200km trip...once I got over watching it sway on the bumps, it was fine. I would't us ethe one arm for anything more than 1 bike.
