patches Posted November 5, 2012 Share BMG, was there another threaded nut covering the main one? looking something like this http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product_images/Medium/D30070BLK;Warehouse;Warehouse.jpg Becasue if so, then your cranks are similar to the Race Face X-Types and one can use the cap nut as a self extractor. So BMG, in that case, leave the outer one on. Use your 8mm hex to undo the inner one until it pushes against the outter nut. then continue to loosen the inner until crank pops off.
