Removing Cranks?

Old thread - same question.

 

How do I remove these cranks? I removed a nut on the one side with a allen key.... now what? Do I need some special tool? The BB is a press-fit one... HELP! blink.png

BMG you need a crank puller there. You beat me there Dangle.

If you are in the Randburg north area you can bring the bike to me and Ill gladly pull it for you.

 

I have the specific Park Tool ISIS/Octalink tool.

BMG, was there another threaded nut covering the main one?

 

looking something like this

Becasue if so, then your cranks are similar to the Race Face X-Types and one can use the cap nut as a self extractor.

Looks like that outer one is a 10mm and the inner inner one 8mm.

If I am right, then it self extracts.

yup! does look like a self extractor!

 

So BMG, in that case, leave the outer one on. Use your 8mm hex to undo the inner one until it pushes against the outter nut. then continue to loosen the inner until crank pops off.

 

If there is no outter nut and just an inner crank bolt, then you'll need the tool
