S2L, my kids know how to solve all of the worlds problems, especially the tenager so medicine is nothing for them.

Now to bring you to 2009, they no longer really use plaster paris casts.

We now have a plastic bottom piece that's molded to my arm and palm with velco on top. So now it can breath and the cast can come off before taking a shower.

So I can take it off whenever I please but it's a good idea to have it on majority of the time so it can heal.

I can't ride with the cast on, can't wrap my fingers around the handle bars.

You a brave man to ride in the rain with all those Taxi's stopping all over the place at that time.

The sun is shining here but I can see the lighting to the south.

So at the moment if you cycle 20km north you'll be out of the rain.

I can relate to that teenager thing Kid.

Mine know absolutely everything about everything. I recall being that way as well a loooooong, long time ago.

Amazing how your knowledge in life gets from being brilliant as a teeny and then when you get to my age, you know jack sh!t. Well, least thats what my teenagers believe.

Hi All

Back to the thread!!

What are you guys doing the weekend if you not riding the R4S?

droodt. Agteros is joining us tomorrow morning for the 7 am group ride. I'll end up wit about 60 k's for the ride.

We are meeting at Bracken City (FNB) at 06:45 and then joining the bunch ride starting at Xumbug.

Not riding R4S, so Sunday I think I will ambleoff and join the usual crowd of suspects (although I think I am going to try out with the other (faster bunch come Sunday. Pretty much hanging on for eberything I've got and see if I can stay with them.

Where does R4S end. Maybe I can cycle to the end and then ride back to Alberton with you if you need someone to hold your hand.

On da uvva hand Darrren, what's the route, perhaps I can jump a fence and ride along for a bit.smiley36.gif

So far tomorrow it'sthe Kid, Agteros and the Slave.

Any other takers for this ride?

Obleix, you given much thought to my offer for Sunday?
Posted

Kid, you going well for another broken arm. Maybe we'll throw in a broken jaw as an added bonus.

Then you can jaw-wag with monis and monis all the way on the ride.

Come to think of it Kid. Agteros and I will chase the pace and get the bunch moving faster. That way Monis et Monis will not be able to keep up and you two slowpokes can keep each other compnay for the balance of the ride. smiley36.gif

I'll push the pace as much as I can! But I'll take a rope along so somebody can tow me to a physio. Still need to do Babbas Lodge MTB the next morning!

Agteros, you take a rope along and the kid is gonna attach himself to my bikeso I can tow him. Then I will be forced to hurt you.

Don'twanna go down that road bud. We'll all take a nice rideand if the bunch is too fast for you and the Kid, I'll tag along with ya for the company. The last thing I wanna do is spoil your ide for Sunday (oh, and stay in the bunch alone to deal with old Monis et Monis.)

What? Me fall back? I'd rather run a heart rate of 120% and have 2 kgs of lactic acid in each leg!

S2L, since you like a 6+ foot monster & I'm like 5'4 I'll withdraw all my statements about Monis & Monis.

Even with a broken wrist I'll ride faster than M&M, just becareful that Agteros & I don't ride like the wind and you'll be stuck with M&M.

Agteros, it's babbalas lodge... everything moves slower

Had a good cycling weekend.

On Sat Agteros, the Kid and I met at Bracken City and hit the bunch. Since Agteros was racing on Sunday, we decided to run with the social guys. He had a couple of problems with loose bits on the bike so we stopped to fix and got dropped.

No problemo though. Once we were mobile again, we chased the bunch down and caught up with them. That felt good. Some good hard riding so we pretty much relaxed til about half-wat up the steps when Agteros decided to make his move. Naturally,. my competitive nature made me go after him and soon we left the bunch behind.

I can only imagine they were taking it easy due to Sundays race because they never even chased us.

Good ride though. Thanks Agteros, I enjoyed it. Hope you got your forks snorted.

Then on Sunday, the Kid and I jumped the fence and rode the race route from the steps to Heidelberg. Damn, there are some reasonably mean hills around the back of Suikerbos. Some ofthe bunches flew past us and I realised with horror that I'm nowhere near as fast as I though. Some of those groups can really motor. Even Vets D left me pretty much looking like the plonker I am. Before you okes that paid get all heated, we did not use any of the facilities. No water from water points or energy drinks. The only benefit we derived waspartial road closure. And we stayed out of the way of all the bunches.

Then the kid dropped me as we got closer to HEidelberg. Must have been all those energy bars he was munching on and I was feeling the fatigue.

At Heidleberg, we turned off on the R103 and headed for home. By this time I was really feeling the effects of an empty tank and struggled to fininsh the 103 k route we eventually did.

Slave; thanks for falling back with me, and with the help to tighten all the bits & bobs on the bike. I guess the road cycle deserves a bit more attention than the the litttle to nothing it is getting at the moment!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Chasing the pack down was hard work and made me realise that taking a sabbatical (even a short one) from even the little training I have under the belt has dire consequences! I was panting like oxygen is going out of fashion, and even fell of S2Ls back wheel chasing the pack.

After we caught the bunch I just sat in the bunch up the stairs recovering... I mean taking it slow. But once at the top I decided to make a swift kill to my suffering and sprinted to the end, completely forgetting about Sunday. Fortunately was mostly downhill to the end!

I was surprised at the number of cyclists doing the ride as well as the patience of the motorists and trucks with the large number of cyclists, and

will definitely be back for a few more rides in the future.

Cool bananas bud.

Have you sorted the bars out yet. That movement we still had after we fasted all the bols and nuts was defiinitely flex on the forks and the "System".

Perhaps you should speak to JB and he can verify this.

ANyway, it was alekker ride and I enjoyed trying to stay with you on that mad dash up the last bit of the stepsand then to the traffic light. Was way cool. Coudn't stay with you on your other crazy dash, but at least we kept pretty much in touch with you.

If you need help with the bike, I can always try and sort out whatever minor ailments it has. Make my day, give me an excuse to spend time in the garage.

Maybe make a list of what you need done and we can do some /all of it next time we ride.

Only next time we run with the big dogs. No more staying on the porch with the puppies.
