Thanks Slave. I will get there about 0715 then. Any passport/visa requirements for me to get down South? smiley2.gif

Andy' date=' don't let Slave mislead you.

You'll need both a passport & a visa.

Bring South African Rands with you to avoid disapointment.

Andy, Don't let the Kid scare ya. He is hibernating at the mo' so he's too lazy to get out of bed and make his collection rounds  cycle. Get's up early in the week to push his weights around the gym. Then on weekends, it's too cold, too early or some other lame crud, so he doen't ride much anymore. Only the IDT. He's certainly not going to be taking his IDT to SBR to make a collection.

Just sits around the sidelines hurling abuse at us.

By the time he gets out and about to collect his Visa revenue it will be spring an' by then he may have forgotten. If not, you should be a lot fitter, just ride away from him.smiley36.gif

Gee BB' date=' I don't have one. Can I borrow yours?[/quote']

Sorry mate I'm using mine smiley17.gif

Ok Slave, I will take your word for it. With my luck he will choose tomorrow to take a break from the gym/IDT to cycle. Just in case I will take my diplomatic passport and dollars (*Z*I*M*) with me. smiley2.gif

Geez Andy...coming so far south into a wild desolate landscape with the mad man the Slave is a brave move!!

Make sure he works those legs hard in the reserve!!!

Glad you enjoyed it Andy. 'nother one coming up soon. Good to meet you dude. You and Trubie certainly made those hills look "flat".

I am def hooked on riding in the reserve. Was a really good ride.

Edit: Welcome back GOv2.0. Good to see you again. You over that flu virus thing of yours yet?

So, update on the weekend rides.

Saturday we met at SBR and met a new hubber. good ride in what was essentially cold weather with a nasty wind that came at you on all but the first climb.

Trubie and Andy left the rest of us in their eagerness to klap the reserve. Clint and I spent some time riding together until he decided to go and "rest" with the Colnago trio after our brief stop at the dam.Like how anyone can consider riding the reserve a rest, even if going slightly more slowly, is beyond me.

Managed to do the whole of that last long climb without having to stop this time and spent far more time seated throughout the ride than I did on my first effort some weeks ago.

Great ride and shave 10 minutes off previous ride time. Trubie and Andy fininshed so far ahead that the went to the hotel for cokes and Powerade, had a shower and had lunch before I came trundling into the car park.

Sunday was a complete surprise to me. I could not decide wether or not to ride even after I got dressedfor the occation. Got to Xumbugs and could not decide on Fast or slow, long or short.

Ahh what the h3ck, go fast. 'k, so we get to Lido hotel and now I can't decide on long or short. 'k, let's go long, (It's only 66 k's) Staying with the group up that Lido hill was pain. Legs hurting from yesterdays reserve ride. Go into Walkerville via the usual route and that's where normal ended.

These oke took us on a Cooks tour through the whole of Walkerville, turning right instead of going straight, back over the main road. So I just followed siut, not having the strength to make up my own mind.

Twist and turns, up and down and me just hanging on. So I aks the chap next to me where the heck we are cause I'm like seriously lost. "Oh, this is the fun route." he tells me.

Eventually we get back to some busy road and I am forced to stop for some cars, getting dropped in the process. The gand disappear. Next thing I see, de Deur.

Yay, I know where I am. Frikken far from home, that's where. I see some chaps ahead taking the Meyerton turn. Chase and follow.

Eventually catch up with ShawnA's GF, but I am in a groove and sucking the wheels in front of me. Cannot let go, NO way, NO how. After some

time we catch up to ShawnA.

"Dude, your GF is back there." He turns around and I go with him. At least it's a familiar face and I hope like hell they going back to Alberton and not Sasolburg.

Thanks for the tow and directions dude. I wish I could have done more to help get us home, but I was taking some pain about then.

Ended up doing 90 ks' by the time I stumbled home. Dam good ride in the end with loads of pain and endorphins.

How is it that we get hooked on all this pain? If anyone has an answer for me, share it with us. I have searched for one but I cannot think of one logical reason why we love this sport so much.

Are endorphins that addictive?

Glad you had great rides Slave. Trubie and I were not that far ahead.

As for being hooked on the pain it is because we want to see just how much we can endure. We want to see where the limit is. We survive one lot of intense pain but we survived. So next time we go harder and try see how much we can really handle.

Andy, dude, if that is what is driving me, then I am more faulty than I originally imagined.

Time to go and check into that head-health farm that was recommended to me so long ago.

I was quite amazed at myself for managing to finish that ride. I had some very serious doubts after riding SBR on Saturday.

When we hit de Deur, I seriously thought I would have to phone Mrs. Slave to come and fetch. Also learned that Meyerton is very much bigger than I thought.

Henley also seemed to me to be bigger than it was in January when I rode through there. Maybe it was just being tired.

Thanks to you though, I managed to hang on and finish the route. Hope my one or two small efforts up front helped you to relax a little and recover for your next long-haul up-front with me sucking wheel behind you.

That "toppie" on the specialised was quite strong. I know you reeled him in but he stuck with us all the way up the steps.

ShawnA, you want a nice route for distancewith a little speed bump or two, we should organise another Heidelberg Bus.

Route is down the steps, past the west entry gate for SBR, follow the Heidelberg road ala Ride4sight, but turn left onto R105 to Alberton. Left again over N3 onto the R550 and back up the steps.

Slave, all cyclists are a bit faulty. It is the sense of pushing yourself and accomplishing something that was physically hard.

I have been invited to a picnic on Sunday at SBR. Thought I would go early and do a loop. Anyone interested?
