Eish Trubes' date=' is that all?

I have managed a paltry 4700 during the same time.

last year managed to do 2600 and sicnce I startedlogging rideshave done just on 8000 now.

Average ride dist 47 k's this year at an average speed of 29 kmph.

Last year average ride dist 31 k's per ride at ana average 28 kmph.

Lotsa fun and many hours of me-time.

Whatever it is you're doing works for you. Keep it up, I am compressed.

Thats all my friend.

Keep on telling you I am a lazy , overweight , unfit wannabee cyclist, who does not practice what I preach.

Ave of 25 k's or 48 mins per day - what a woes.

Agree with BB, there needs to be a lot more to this than just comparing numbers.

One variable that comes to mind is speed.

There are plenty others, but the disciplines certainly makes a big difference also. 3 hrs on the MTB for 55 k's, can be just as grueling as 3 hrs in the saddle for 90 k's

Or so I found out yesterday!!

BB, I am with you on that one.

Also, different people have different abilities. When I was a runner, I used to worry about whether I was doing enough. I had logged all my runs and had stats on just about everything. One chap I knew, used to run an 8 hour comrades. So I asked him about his training.

"Oh 160 k's." was his reply. "What? A week?" I aksed him.

"No, total."

I did 60 k's a week for months and it still wasn't enough for me. He just had natural ability and I had to work at being fit. With all the cycling I have done, I doubt I could run 10 ks' today.

This is not so much about the diffs between MTB and road cycling. It is about OX does very little and he does reasonably well. Imagine what he could achieve if he put in more. He is obviously one of those with more natural ability.

(Sorry Ox, the truth! If you put in more, you could really achieve big things.)

some road cycling (NOT A LOT TRUST ME!)

1 mtb ride

3 spinning classes

2x running sessions a week ... track intervals

but will give details later on (need to go run 4x1000m or something to that effect)

Hi All

Would like to ride on Saturday morning with a friend Mr Cool - what's the plan??

Hey Narco' date=' loooooong time.[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley4.gif[/img]

So you plan to bring yourself and a buddy along to the SBR for a ride?

Plan is we meet at the parking lot at SBR sometime just after 7 when the gates open. Go in the northern gate or the one closes to the N3. (NOT the karee kloof gate.)

WE ride out from the parking area as soon as everyone is there and ready. If you are there after 07h45, the train pullls out the station anyway.

If you aren'tsure how to get there, we can make a plan to meet elsewhere.

One lap is 57 km. There are a few hills there but then you live in Mondeor so you know a hill or two.

Jy is eintlik 'n yster

Met al daai oefening onderpresteer jy beslis. smiley2.gif

Lyk my jy nodig 'n nuwe program, of 'n nuwe coach.

Doen so voort, jy het duidelik heeltemal te veel tyd op hande

Narco (and anyone else needing driections), from Mondeor, take the N12 east and get off at R59 Vereeniging. Travel south as far as Klipriver (the Place. I think the turnoff says Heidelberg.) and get off the R59, Turn left and proceed straight. The turnoff to SBR is well marked (Protea Hotels SBR Nature Reserve.) Turn right, fllow road and pay for permit at gate. Once in the gate, follow the road straight along until you get to the sign that says farm museum. Go in throught the gate into the car park.

You will no doubt see us there. Andy has a personalised reg, you can't miss us.

Alternatively, go straight down Kliprivier (the road) past Alberton to the "T" junction. Turn right and go down the steps. After you cross the river, you will get to a stop (4 Way) turn right here and follow the road towards Heidelberg. Find sign that says Protea hoteles SBR Nature Reserve. Turn right, pay at gate etc.

Alternatively, we can meet at Meyersig along Klipriver and you can follow us. We should meet there by 06h35 to be at the gate by 7.

Ox, am I reading this correctly, you run at 10.2km/h (avg) ?

Weren't you running at 5km/h a few weeks back ?

Or am I confussed ??

IK... the 5 is minutes per km, which translates to 12 km/h. With running there are always markers per KM (or track lengths) so it is EASIER to calculate speed (pace) as time per km...

To summarise.. these were my physical activities over the last 4 weeks (till Sunday) So yeah, I do a bit more than just cycle at max every second weekend, but this is still NOT how superheros are made! However, I try to make the training count, so I do not go run around the neighbourhood aimlessly just to make the miles, and the same with the cycling. I tend to do the cycling at a lower HRavg than the running. So it can be said that with the running I'm doing my cardio work, and with the cycling I do the LSD stuff

Training:

Road Cycle110304:03:00
MTB13501:50:00

Races
Running11000:52:57

Road Cycle19302:41
MTB Duathlon15,20,2.501:56:00

This translates to only 4 sessions per week  (4H05 per week)

So Kid, you also agree that the Ox is overtraining, underperforming and is trying to let us believe he has no time to train properly. smiley2.gif

Lets enter into some sort of deal, and select a duathlon in the near future, and go give him some carrots.smiley7.gif

Trubes, there is a ROAD duathlon coming up on 2 August at the Cradle smiley4.gif

Ok, big mistake not to define near future.

Just to get some perspective on the matter

- I dont run, that's why I have a bike now - ok I'll admit I did have a race with my 9 year old last week, over 15 m. Sometimes I have a runny tummy, then I run to the loo often, and then when it rains, and I dont have a brolly with me, I run for cover.

- So Kid and I need some time to start running little bit more than that - cant comment for Kid though..........

- Then, I am kicking off a "very rigorous" 16 week training programme for the 94.7 in week of 27 July. That means for next 16 weeks concentrate very hard on improving my ability to spin faster and ride at higher cadence, in order to be able to shave seconds off my 3:02 of '08.

- On 10 Aug as part of above training, I will be starting the Carousel 100km race, which means that 1 Aug is way too close to the 10th , to even consider doing anything but pedalling my bike. (Remember how I couldnt walk for 8 days after the duathlon I did in April - and it negatively affected my chances of winning the Wilro race - smiley2.gif)

So the future may be bright enough that we need to wear shades, but its still a long way before this future actually arrives.

How about, Kid, You and I enter a relay team for the Energade series later, Kid can swim, you can run, I 'll pretend I can ride!
