Does anybody know what happened Sunday? I heard something about a bikejacking and somebody getting stabbed?

Jeepers...thats bad. Where was this supposed to have happened? Did they jack someone on their own? Or a group?

Any idea who it was Tachy?

Thats properly bad news...

HI GO3.0

Only heard it from a lady after Church. Her husband phoned her to let her know. His name is Michael and I assume he does the xumbug-lido route. BUT then again assumptions is the mother ..... well you know how it goes.

I also heard of a bike jacking close to the Everite Factory. Apparently 3 cyclists were together and two managed to get the hammer down and get away. The third was held at knife point and after one disappeared with the bike, the thief demanded money and the cell phone.

Also heard a story that a whole bunch of cyclists were hurt on the Allewynspoort road on the weekend.

Anyone have any information on that one?

Tachymeter. I think you were trying to tell us that assumptions are the fother of all muck-ups.

Hey Oxman. I have a strange keyboard. Every day it chooses a letter that won't work. The other day was the turn of the one you said. It is a random thing and can be quite fun. Sometimes, if I have time and read my post, then I have no idea what I was trying to say.

Maybe the chop who told me was confused with the story of the Oudtshoorn riders. (Yes, I did type chop and not chap. The chap is a tjop. No, the one who told me.)

So Trubie, why are you unfit? Have you been slacking off with me not around to check out what you are doing?

And this from the one who did some cracking time fininshing in thebunch on a recent race.

You stick to your story Trubie. I mght believe you but thousands of others wont.

I am just the epitome of "unfit" right now.

HEY GOv3.0, yes, I'm shouting at you. You gone deaf lately. Whassssssup with the Colnago's bud?

Are you making it all happen yet?

I'm going to be honest with you now, I think using the roads around the Lido/Everite/Alewynspoort and Walkerville on your own is a big mistake.

I know assumptions are the mother of all F#%k ups, but this is getting scary now.

I know the groups that leave have no formal organised structure, and if someone drops off/punctures/falls then the common thought is to just carry on because it does not concern you because we are all there by our own choice.

If I am going to ride with the Lido crowd again, it will be with an arranged group who will agree to stay together. For my safety firstly and everyone else thereafter. (I know that sounds selfish, but it reads the same if you type it)

Its sad that we can no longer enjoy this sport, on road or off for fear of our safety.

I agree with the owlman. This is why I have always advocated being together and looking after the slowest rider in any group ride I have arranged.

It is very infortunately a harsh reality of the current economic situation that some people seee fit to steal stuff that others have worked for. But, I can almost understand that if you are going to steal stuff, the best way to do it is to go for soft targets. With all the modern security we have around our homes, cars and other valuable, about the only way for these creeps to make money, is to jack us off our bikes.

Let's not talk about the market though. I'm sure we all question stuff when we buy it and will not buy stolen goods. Thus creating a market. But when you have more than half of the country living below the breadline, then a bargain bike is hard to resist so the market is there.

Perhaps we need to set up an ambush for htese guys because it sounds like the same group all the time and they wont stop until someone stops them. The SAPS are about as reliable and useful as ashtrays on Harley Davidsons. (Or Colnagos if you prefer.)

Happy birthday HA HA Kieran. Hope you have a great day.

Yeah Andy, it serves another function having a crime hotspot on your training route. It forces everyone to ride in abunch and there are therefore very few breakaways.

Although it always seems to be the ones that drop out the back that are the targets. Also, one of the mo's is to tackle those who have fallen out the back, at the top of a ride when they are too tired to fight back.
