Collapsed lungs are extremely serious as well. If not treated properly can cause some serious damage. I read a book by a former USAF Pararescue Jumper and he went into collapsed lungs. Not a good thing to have! Incidently he was involved in "The Perfect Storm" in the PJ section which was sent out.

Andy, That was probably one of the reasons I was in ICU. Apparently, I had the right medical care. I seem to be OK now.

Still have some residual pain in the ribs (2 of them) and the shoulder is not 100% yet. Only this last week have I been able to sleep on my left hand side.

Big step from spending the first 4 or 5 weeks sleeping sitting up.

Anyway, we are back now and that's what matters. Now, if I can just get as fast as Ha-Ha Kieran........

I saw someone looking for a ride partner to do 140 odd at about 25 to 27 km/h. The speed sounds great to me, bit the distance, she is too far. Eish.smiley9.gif

Slave, that base is gone you need a new one.

I'll be doing another base from the 20th April.

At this stage I'm pretty confident of doing a H/berg ride, the distance will be great for me.

So here's the idea, you ride Friday, Sat, Sun with the B group and then Monday we do H/Berg smiley36.gif

Back to reality, I'll give you some time then on the 27th April we'll do H/Berg, slow.

You have 1 month you build up the distance.

I'll have to see how it goes kid. Can't commit one way or the other right now. If my base is gone, and I have to build a new one, it will take me a few moths to get to that sort of distance.

On va uvva hand Darren, if my base is still in tact,I might just be able to manage it, by car.

smiley5.gif Couple of posts ago, you said don't ride for distance. Dude, 45 minutes in a saddle was hell. Now you want me to head off halfway to Durbs which will take me like four days.smiley11.gif

Frigging Slave drivers is what you and the kid are. smiley7.gifsmiley18.gifsmiley35.gif hell man. I think mmaybe I should sign up with that bowls club after all. I now live within walking distance. smiley2.gif

Slave. Don't ride for distance yet. Ride for time. Also I know it will be hard for you since you like chasing down trucks but ride at a slower pace rather than the fastest you can. Build up the time at the slower pace. And please do not look at anything that displays speed etc. as that is what landed you on the crash cart the last time!

Chasing trucks is fun.Chasing kids is like making me out to be a peadophile. Maybe bowls at my age would be like more appropriate.

You don't need to ride for distance' date=' just focus on how quick you can do those 100km oops, I mean how many hours you can spend in the saddle.

You still have that tow rope?

Nonsense. For the first few rides you should ride for time. Then start riding for distance. Then every once in awhile do speed tests, but choose a road with no pavement for you to crash into!!! Forget bowls, you will get very old very fast!

BWaaaaaaaaahahahahahahah, Andy. Only getting older one day at a time.Same as everyone else. When I crahsed it was one of those once ina while speed tests. Conditions were such that I wanted to test the combination of me on the Colnago to see if the bike made any difference.

Funny thing was, that particular afternoon, I was really NAAFI. I kinda forced myself to go ride. The result was not encouraging, but I had done it before and had some good rides.

Speaking of which, I had a great ride yesterday. Not sure of how far I rode but it was a fair bit more than 20. Unfortuantely, I got into that truck chasing thing again. Had a short sprint behind a Landy 110, andthen a bit later, got behind one truck for a short sprint, and then another after that.

Only thing is about 2 km from home I had some pain inmy shoulder. Had to sit up (as in "look ma, no hands...").

Still was a great ride though. Just don't tell Andy, he'll have something to say.

Ooooops.

So, tomorrow I'm taking a ride with a new ride buddy. Quite an attractive one at that.

That is a great ride Slave! So you rode more than 20km and chased at least three larger vehicles. I would say that you are ready for a little trip to a place that goes by the name of SBR!!!! Wouldn't you agree Kid?

Hang onto the door to stretch that shoulder a bit. That is the exercise my physio once gave me when I had shoulder pain. Be very careful of the "look ma - no hands" stuff please!

So you are basically going riding with a lady?

Kid, slowly, slowly catch Kieran. I still need to get up to distance, never mins speed.

Towards the end of the ride yesterday, I had some trouble with my shoulder / collar bone. Obviously it will take me some time to work all this out of my system. The last thing you want it to have to tow me back from the berg. I have put on a few Kg.

Slave, GO BIG or GO HOME.

I have inside info that Kieran & somebody very dear to me will be riding this afternoon so if you feel like chasing them I can give you the details of the secret meeting place, the time and the secret password.

Upu'll have to show me how it's done. (That stretchy thing.) I basically kissed the physioterrorist off when I left the hosiptal. I was suposed to go for treatment but never did.

So what, like I grab the door at the top and rip it off it's hinges?

I think we need to keep his riding with a lady under the radar. Just now tongues wil wag and rumours wll start and end who knows where?

But, yes. I am. Note: I am riding with a lady. with being the operative word.
