Congrats Trubie! All that hard work i starting to pay dividends!

It was not too pleasant for me, although riding back with the licensed ladies kinda made up for the rest of it cool.gif

Ox, how was yr race?

I must say, standing at the start waiting forever was made worth while, behind all those sexy butts yes.

Catching them so soon, was not so good though.

Yes, must say I am pretty happy with the condition at the moment.

I was kinda surprised when we caught up with the ladies at about 20km, at the finish some of them commented that they were having a tea party and not a race... nobody was willing to work at the front.

MY race details compared to last year as follows:

		2009 (C Bunch)	2010 (A Bunch)
Time 03:08:52	03:20:41
Avg 34.95 32.89

Positions
Gender 348/548 63.50% 235/451 52.11%
Category 102/158 64.56% 69/133 51.88%
Overall 389/674 57.72% 258/563 45.83%
Start Bunch	3/108 2.78% 69/93 74.19%

Guess it is not too bad after all, even with all the running and resultant lack of cycling I've done over the past few months... still not impressed with it though.

Some more stats about the race (10km splits):

# Dist time Split Avg Elev. Avg. HR
01 010 0:15:03 10 39.8 -25 137
02 020 0:14:45 10 40.6 23 141
03 030 0:14:16 10 42.0 -5 144
04 040 0:13:39 10 44.0 -51 137
05 050 0:18:08 10 33.1 58 148
06 060 0:20:31 10 29.2 0 164
07 070 0:16:29 10 36.4 -57 158
08 080 0:24:10 10 24.8 50 155
09 090 0:20:39 10 29.0 5 149
10 100 0:21:54 10 27.4 -23 140
11 109.93 0:20:57 9.93 28.4 24 146

During the 50 to 60 section (05) the bunch slowed down plenty, a split happened on the 1/2 hill, I lost the front :( Was too toasted to hang with other groups, had to settle for the ladies group :)

Very true, first real bump at 44, and then the 1/2 bump at 55. Forgettting the blip at 40.

More granular, it looks like this:

105	03:00:26	03:10:28	+10:02 + 13
110	03:08:52	03:20:41	+11:49 + 11

Pity I missed the deadline Lost City though :(

Oh well.... Gonna do the balance of the Nissan MTB Series and a few road events here and there.

Data looks good Trubie and Ox!

Ox, we catch the ladies about that point every year.

Thanks Andy.

I was a bit miffed with my time initially, but given my lack of riding, and for some obscure reason my better positional finish I should not complain too much I guess.

Aaah well, back to the running again tonight

With admission exams my training has been less than ideal so I did the race as a training ride.

How is the running going?

Tracking my progress using the Jack Daniels tables, and my VDOT is steadily increasing so it seems to be going reasonably well. Just need to start to work longer runs into the weekly schedule now

Sounds good. I also need to start doing some running as training for my trip to Kili in September. Maybe I should try those time trials at Old Parks on Tuesday evenings that I used to do for athletics training in my school days.
