Why did I decide to do a comeback after 7 months of PS3?????

BUT I must say I LOVED it all the way. The pain up Hek-kie-Poort (come on this is not that bad) and of course my ol friend MR. WIND.

Heard a lot of comments and it made me smile.

Trubes and Andy you right my friends A hurts just until they drop you :)

95 was good for me today as I needed to do some graft towards the line.

Must say I missed my daughter on my 6 today.

Will make it up with her tomorrow at the Stonehaven race.

Hope you all had a ball like me today and we will be in the Saturday Bunch soon.

PS: I rode a total of 4.5 hours (2 today) in the red this week.

Who needs base anyway :)

Hi there :) Is the whole group that meets on Swartkoppies and Kliprivier an organised hub ride? who decides who rides with which groups? I am nervous in case i get left behind

Nobody organizes these rides.

It's the survival of the fittest.

The fast guys normally leave first then the social riders leave a few moments later.

How long have you been riding ?

What's your avg speed on a ride ?

Ja, ask Andy - who needs base training

2 x HI sessions per week -more than enough...

Poor buggers like me who has done more than 9600 k's this year, still battle and doesnt get easier.

Jacaranda was ok, till we got to Hekpoort. The mountain goats dropped my big ass solidly and then I lost 10 mins on them in the last 35 k's into that akward wind and few undulations.........

BUT

Race for Victory I was 17/18 mins behind them, Shova was 13 mins, Jacaranda 10 mins - they better watch out :)

see ya soon Marius

Been riding for 2 years, but just socially. I am new to the area and was told about the big group ride on the weekends. I will just pitch and ride :) Thank you

Welcome to the area, look forward to some great riding there..

BTW - Kid is always on the lookout for a Princess in distress to help out :)

Hi PH and welcome.

This thread is more about banter and special rides that we organise as hub rides fromtimeto time. But one of us has been lazy of late so no special rides that I know of.

Suggest you try out for the more social bunch this weekend and see how you fare. They usually wait for the slower riders and keep the bunch pretty much together. Just watch out for Old Mona. She complains bitterly about everything. The lines that people ride, the speed, the wind, you name it. Stay away from her because she'll just make you nervous. ;)

Other than that, there is nothing to it. On the short loop, there will be a bit of a sprint towards the bridge at Klip river and then they all slow down to re group. The Kid and some of the others ride with the Fast (or A) bunch and they take no prosoners there. I have had my sorry @ss dropped by them a few times.

Thank you guys. I am just nervous with choosing the group as I have heard they can be a little dangerous. Would like to make some new friends that i can ride with regularly :)

Do you have any girls that ride with you? I think you guys are beyond my league and riding with you would be a waste of your time :(

There are girls who ride with the groups but there aren't many. :(

I'd suggest you ride with the slower group to start off with.

Have you ridden with a group before ?

I'll be riding with the slow group once this weekend, if you want I can ride with you to make sure that you won't get left behind.

:( (now I know what the "S" in Big S is for. Very appropriate. :P

PH, if you are nervous, speak to Nancy Drew (although she has been missing for some time) and she will tell you that we southern gentlemen always make sure the ladies get home safe and sound.

Just watch out for the kid. He is always looking for protection fees, Visa fees and any other form of monetary reward for services rendered. How else do you think he could afford his expensive cycling habit? He may try and fleece you of a few Ronds. (Froewarned is foreamred.)

Is there a charge to ride with you hub guys?

So how do I tell the hub guys from the others? How many are you? Are you all of the same level of ability and this hub posting is just humour? I have ridden in groups many times and enjoy it

Nope, no charge at all. The kid is the only extortionsist. He prefers the term "protecionist."

Definitely not on the same level either. I am the old slow one. On cold days Trubie is the one who looks like he is a scuba enthusiast who does most of his scuba diving in the frigid waters of the poles rather than being the avid cyclist he truly is. I think he secretly enjoys riding his bike in scuba gear.

Big S is the MTB enthusiast who's most often found at the zoo farm. Some of our missing members are ShawnA, Tyx1, Nancy Drew (who is an honarary southern citizen whom the kid has an arrangement about Visa fees) and a backward Ox who used to come from the north to ride with us but secretly enjoys running to get fir fot cyclng.

We are just a normal bunch of cyclists really. Telling hubbers apart from the rest, well, very difficult. :D

Glad you've cycled in groups.

PM me your details(what bike you ride; kit you wear; colour of your helmet) unless you want to post them here.

Then let me know which day you'd prefer.

Since you from the area there will be no charge, I normally collect money from the northern folk (VISA fees) that want to ride in the souff. :D :D :D
