Thanks for the map! Much appreciated!

What about we meet at 05:00 for Lap 1. Then meet back at Rietvlei for Lap 2. That way if there are any problems on Lap 1 or the bunch leaves Xumbugs a bit earlier we still all ride together in our group?

Sounds good. Who else is in for a 80km cycle on Sunday? Slave? Kid? Kieran [/unquote] :P

Kid-your tyres are still in my boot so you must get them on Sunday.

Just make sure you pitch on Sunday.

Pls don't go out drinking on the Saturday night.

Just make sure that Rietvlei is open at 5am.

You guys might have to park at Panorama if you planning to start at 5am.

Just make sure you don't sabotage my bike so that I can pitch on Sunday!

Of course it depends on how long wheel shopping takes.

Agteros, you find out about Rietvlei?

Kid, you joining us?

I am a little reluctant to commit to two laps of the short loop. It all depends on how my commute ride goes tomorrow. Commuting into and out of the office so it will be just over 60 clicks.

On the upside, I only commuted one way yesterday and am not commuting today so at least I have a bit of rest. I may be able to make two laps on Sunday. Not that I like Laps. You always know what's coming at you on the second. If we go real easy, I might make it.

I see they have tarred the entrance and exits of Rietvlei. Makes it much easier on the bike to get in and out.

Ahh, what the heck, count me in for two laps. You okie pokies can meet up at Rietvlei (*Andy, instead of turning left into Panorama, carry on straight. You will go under a bridge, and at the next traffic lights, go left up to Rietvlei. It is a couple of Km up the road on the left. I think they open pretty early. Otherwise Phone me for alternative parking. Ox knows of a place where a bin used to be. Also has security and not too far from Rietvlei.). I'll be lazy and meet y'all at Xumbugs. :P

Great! Well done Slave! I remember Agteros mentioning something about HR's somewhere so I think it will be an easier ride. Partly why he didn't want to go to SBR.

Now let's see what the Kid comes up with seeing as Slave is doing two laps! :D

So then after lap one we all meet at Rietvlei for our second lap? So we don't get split up etc with the other bunches and ride as our ASGR group.

Something like that Andy, but Ox will have to bring a truckload of cash with hime to buy me at least a chock milkshake and brekkie for doing two laps.

(I think I may need Spas09 and his team of medical personell on standby.)

WTF have I got myself into.

Kid, you are worshipping the wrong god here. Trubie is HRH (His royal higness) the king of the steps.)

I'm also pretty sure that you can get up them a bit faster than some other old fart I know. :P And probably many more times.

Maybe, for a bit of variation. we should do the loop in reverse the first time and go down the steps. That way, the two lap thing won't be such a drag. Ox has never done that loop in reverse. Me niether since I only have Shimano and don't have a reverse gear. MAybe you only get that one with the more advance Campy and SRAM. ;)

Andy, both you and ox have my number. If you have a problem, please phone me. I'll give you alternatives for parking.

Doing the loop in reverse is just WRONG !!!!!

That loop only has like 250m of climbing & now you want to go in reverse, you'll end up with -250m of climbing.

Thanks for the laugh Kid!

Great logic as well.

Might be a nice variation.

You say this like it's a bad thing????

Tell you what, for someone who is only pint sized, you sure have a gallon jug where your mouth should be. :P

Join us, you can tow me up the steps while I give the ox a shove. ;)

Frikking smartie pants.

Yep, parking she'll be a problem, just confirmed with Wendell from the Cycle Hub.

Guess we'll have to park at the place that used to have a dustbin :)

Andy, when you turn left to go onto Swartkoppies (R ) - the route to Rietvlei, you turn right after 3.3km into Hennie Alberts(M82), shopping centre on your left after 2 or 3 blocks. Park there close to the FNB.

It is about 3.7km from there to Xumbugs.

Oh ok. Thanks. Will do so. Do you perhaps have the name of the shopping centre?

So then for the second lap we just find each other at Xumbugs to and then do the lap again? Those who aren't riding Lap 1 just waits for the others.

Bracken City it is. Some call it "Broken city". I am not sure if this has anything to do with the broken dustbins or if it's for some other reason.

I think after lap 1, we can take a ride to Rietvlei and wait for everyone there. It will be open by then and there will still be some time to wait before we all get together. As a variation I have a slightly different route on the short loop (in reverse of course (no matter how faulty that may be. )) It will be flatter than going the conventional way and may add a few minutes to get closer to his required 4 hours of LSD. (methinks I need some of this long lasting LSD, sounds like really good sh!t.)Just as long as there is time for me to have a quick nicotine adjustment before we got out on lap 2.

Basically, we need to meet at Broken City and leave just after 5am. (Frick, that means up at 4. (Oh JOY!)) For me the distance will be closer to 90 km. I'm sure I can manage that in 4 hours. (With some help from the medics and the tow rope.)

Hey, pint size, are your half pints going to be joining us as well? Both laps.
