Yes, that is it. You were thinking of a long loop while I was protecting the less mad individuals in this group and thinking of short. We don't want to kill everyone in the group Slave.

Wake Up Slave, you need to finish your energade!

Who is Mona, was she riding yesterday?

Btw, Slave, what happened after Hummy and I paced at the front? I was keeping my pace the same as Hummy and riding alongside him.

  If you are referring to the first lap, I got pretty much blown from trying to pace the group at about 34. then you blitzed past at 37, the rest of the group followed you and I went out the back and bumped into Oxman. I took a long time to recover from that one.

Now stop making so much noise. I'm trying to sleep in here. Oh, it's time to go change. Long ride home you know. On shattered legs.

  at Kid.

Typical lawyer man hey Kid. Makes one appearance and asks for a continuance.

Andy, Mona is Kid's GF. He will of course deny this and say that she is my GF, but he can't add so I'd be wary of any statements he makes. Or claims as to who Mona really is.

I'll send you a PM, or better still an e-mail.....

Good night all, time for my afternoon nap.

37 was what the group was doing before I got on the front so I just kepte that speed. Then I go to the back of the group and look back and see we down to four.

You haven't mentioned this Mona for ages so was just wondering what happened to her.

I doubt the time is right at the moment to be experimenting with Amanda and the likes. Not a week before Jhb's toughest race!!

Rather use the training time a bit more wisely.......... on second thought, too late to try anything now so just do it and go for it :)

No point in just riding up hills for the sake of riding up hills is there?

What is the purpose good people?

True Trubie (rhymes hey), we have decided that that's pretty much it for this year, no more Comaro etc.

Having said that there is the small matter of 220k's and just over 5000m of climbing to be done in Sabie on the MTB Fri - Sun this week :o :D

The purpose, Trubie, is a very simple one: To have fun! And it is good training since you know that this small little race is not on the Salt Flats. :D

ja sure

read this carefully

NO ONE HAS FUN RIDING UPHILL - unless you full of Spanish Steak............................................

Yes excellent training a week before the little race

makes lotsa sense now thanks

So you saying that I use Spanish Beef now? How could you imply such things? Why do you want to undo all of Hummy's great Southern hospitality? Not to mention Slave's, BigS' and Kid's!

Well then I refer you to your earlier post where you mentioned it. What did you have to eat in Bloem? It seems to have made you think strangely. :o

And Slave, what happened on the second lap? I was matching Hummy's speed and then Kid comes and tells us that there is nobody left behind us.

You young guns and speed freaks forget I am old, cantankerous and slow. While I have done a lot of riding this year, it is nothing compared to what I was doing last year. And commuting is totally different to training. The objective of commuting is to get to work and be fresh enough to work for the day and then commute home again. So commutes tend to be slow. It's like base training I guess.

I have done no intervals, no speed work, no hill repeats. Nada. Nothing. So back to riding in the bunches for the second time since January, it's as good as a whole new ball of wax.

So, when I dropped out the back of the pack, I had pushed max HR for as long as was possible. When you racing snakes passed me, I was completely blown. Recovery from that took a while. So Ox and I just had a nice gentle chug along into that wind that ws hell. Maybe, if I had just stayed in the pack it would have been completely different.

Ya, Slave and they forgot that they were supposed to go with me (who had to stay within strict HR guides)....

Guess it is true that the moment when there is more than one bicycle in a group, you have a cycle race! Amazing how runners can run together (slowly, or fast) depending on the goal for the run. Hehehe and they can also let those who want to 'race' go, and carry on with their own training goal (pretty much like what we did ;) !)

Since the commutes are slow and base training you can then do some speed work on the weekends. :D You don't need to be fresh at the end of the ride. Hehehe.

I just want to make sure as I am planning my weekend training - Panorama is just a bit up that road from Xumbugs intersection? If we went straight over at the end instead of turning right to Rietvlei we would get to Panorama?

Ox, I can relate to this because I often go out with the idea of having a slow bunch ride. Then I get to Humbugs, change my mind and decide to ride with the fast bunch (this was last year)and then no sooner do you get under way and the adreniline kicks in. or was that the testosterone. No matter, it's whatever the "stoopid hormone" is that makes men forget all logic and reason and just go all out and compete.

I think there was a touch of testosterone overflow on Sunday. They forgot that it was supposed to be two slow laps. :(

On the upside, I had a nice enough ride yesterday morning and somehow survived. Then came the ride home. Must have been some spanish beef in that water bottle of mine (and I swear I only put energade into it.) Anyway, some halfway up fourth street Houghton, I was cruizing nice and comfortably and decided to rather take Joe Slovo as opposed to Munroe. (I needed to find out what distance I used to commute when I lived at another place as well.) Anyway, the pace felt right and comfotable except for one or two places where the HR went into space so I just kept going.

What used to take me an hour 15 took an hour 5 yesterday. I was pretty knackered by the time I got home, but it was a really good ride.

This morning, I became a true roadie and opted for the car because I didn't feel like getting wet. :P
