Slave, there was some serious racing going on there! I'm sure we disposed of a few riders but the pace throughout was quite high. We will have to wait for the official report but I don't think there were too many breaks and the ones there were got chased down quickly. Seemed they wanted a bunch sprint to end off the year so pace made sure of that. It was quite "busy" in the bunch though.

It is terrible that people do that. Especially since they not likely to be going for the winning time since they are stopping at the water points.

A lot of the bunches got splintered so this is why it wasn't possible to know which bunch was passing our WP at any given time. And the speeds made it impossible for me to read the groups of the race numbers.

Funny thing that about the types that litter. The peeps who are racing for time / prize money / glory, don't litter or at least have team support and thus don't have any litter.

I think many of the particpants are somehow racing for time. Maybe only against themselves, but racing for time anyway. Some were just aiming to finish and others were chasing a specific time.

One chap who stopped for whatever, drank down his little cup of powerade and dropped the cup in front on himself under the table. "Would you please be so kind as to pick that up and give it to me so I can throw it in the bin right here?" I asked him.

His comeback was that there were a "lot of cups under the table so like what's the problem?" Therein lies the problem. *** attitude.

Despite that though, what I did was enjoyable and I would do it again. :) It was a small thing to give back a little something to the sport I have got so much from.

Many people have k@k attitudes about many things. And that is the root of the problems. Just because many others do something doesn't make it right for someone to do as well.

So what are riding plans this coming weekend?

So what are riding plans this coming weekend?

the road season is over so you okes might as well come do some mountain biking

I will not dispute that I had a load of fun yesterday but not nearly as much as Saturday .... there was no mud, water crossings, bumpy grassy track etc., what use is that

I seem to recall that you were the one said you were going to organise a MTB for me so that I could ride with you.

Assuming you are good to your word, hypothetically, where would we go for a ride on a MTB this weekend?

You trying to remind someone of something someone said a while back??

Andy, my plans for this week are to survive the 300 odd km of commuting. (In the past 2 weeks, I have done 650 km.)If I can survive this week, what would your hypothectical plans be? I can probably manage a short loop at maybe something like last time around. More than that, I'm not zachery sure.

I have this uneasy feeling about all this MTB stuff you okes are cooking up and probably going to get Queen Bree involved somehow.

Dare I ask Big man, if I can take back the Pink Blouse?

Big ride Saturday 5am for 6 or 7 hours but not too hard then a 3-4 hour easy Sunday morning. All around the Walkerville area!

All preparation for 24hour you see :)

I would loan you a bike with pleasure dude, not quite the farm gate size you need but should work .....

See, the thing is this dude: I am not doing the 24 hr. :P I don't need to be doing this hard core 4 to 7 hour stuff on weekends unless it's sleeping.

Plus, it's all very well using a borrowed MTB for a bit of fun now and then, but like then it's shooz and all that other junk that goes with getting filthy dirty.

MTB reminds me of Motor X. It's just a very expensive way to get dirty. I can just as easily play with the hosepipe in the garden.

I think we need to plan the MTB thing for another time.

Andy, what do you have in mind? I'm seriously thinking R & R. Maybe drive the recovery vehicle. :)

For the second week running, there was a huge pile up, with the Saturday 7am bunch

at more or less the entrance to Eye Of Africa golf estate, close to Lido hotel. This weekend it happened at about 45km/h. It seems that a physically challenged youngster came down and took many with him. Hope everyone is OK. Anyone have any news?

Posted

I saw the youngster but only him never saw anyone with him. The problem with the bunches recently is that every Tom, D!ck and Harry decided they were going to join the weekend bunches to get some 94.7 prep in.

Bunches too big = big boo boo.

Hopefully its quieter now. Until next year!

Not good to hear at all. First time I hear of them. There are basically two groups that ride on the weekends. A faster one and a slower one. Any idea which one it was?

I am looking at a few options ranging from a ride with Kid and Trubie to MTB'ing somewhere.

Andy, that sounds right up my street. You, kid, mini kid, micro kid and Trubie can all go off and have nice quiet ride in the country while I get involved in doing some Egyptian PT.

Come now Slave! I am thinking of the toy run Saturday and then maybe a longer +-70km ride on Sunday with Hummy. Not too fast though. Nice easy ride although not that crazy double loop we did a few weeks ago.

Andy, dude, I am not even going to be polite and ask the same question you asked Ox. I'm just going to call it.

You ARE mad. You can buy me all the toys you want. I am not doing a ride Saturday (Not even for Buzz Lightyear) and another 70 odd on Sunday.

You and Hummy together.... BAD news. two racing snakes (young ones at that) and thinking that I can even dream of keeping up.. Even my dreams are not that fast.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll let this one slide by. Very quietly. Lots of Gypo PT for me this weekend. :)
