GNT champs postponed

"The GNT Championships on 23 November 2008 has been postponed.

The cable that retained the hyacinths snapped and the swimming area at Sable Hill is now covered with hyacinths making swimming impossible.

A new date for the GNT Triathlon Championships will be communicated next week."

A hyacinth is a pest plant that grows in water came from Oz originally.  Here it has no natural enemies and reproduces like you cannot believe

 

It even covered the Hartebeespoort dam a few years ago.

Thanks sammajoor, I thought it might be a plant from the "cinth" at the end of the word.   But couldn't figure that there would be so many as to prevent you from being able to swim in the dam.

From what I've heard it might now be combined with one of the Joburg Tri Series races.  Probably GNT + CG Champs.  No official word yet, expect something in the week.

 

Don't know why we have our champs in November when SA's is in March and worlds in September!  Had to do alot of training in winter because of the silly date.  So much for that .
