Is there any reason why there would be a difference between the Truvativ GXP BB and the GXP Team BB?

I got a set Truvativ Firex Cranks with GPX BB on my GT I-drive 4 when I bought it in January last year. Anyway after Knysna this year I noticed that there was a bit of noticable wear in the BB so decided it was time to change it.

Originally I thought I could use an Aerozine BB that I was given, not realizing it had to be a GXP BB.

I discover this and end up finding a GXP team issue BB in Knysna, I was running late for the Petzl nightride and the crank arm was wobbling a little (I thought I'd worn the splines down), so I shimmed up the splines with a piece of insulation tape and all was well.

It has been fine till Saturday when I neede to service my suspension pivots and so needed to take of the crank.

I compared the old and the newer BB and there seems to be a size difference between the spacers on the non-drive side.

Newer BB= Wobble

Older BB= Perfect

It's about 2-3mm. can't check right now as the older BB is on the bike right now. put some more grease in will see how it goes. Would replace the bearings but they're not a standard size.

Flowta, when I bought my tandem last week it came with Truvativ Elita cranks. When I got home and went for a test drive there was a wobble on both cranks.

I took it back and they told me that  MTB hollow cranks were fitted instead of road ones. They said that there is a difference on the diameters of the cranks.

Unfortunately I don't know how many different BB's there are for Truvativ cranks.

Thanks Speed Devil, just been on the Truvativ website. It appears there is a GXP XR BB and a GXP Team BB. haven't found anymore info other than that.
