JoeK Posted November 26, 2008 Share Hi there, can the smallest ring on a sora casette, which is a 12, be replaced by a 11? Cheers

Mudsimus Posted November 26, 2008 Share If you can find an eight speed 11t final position sprocket...sure.
Iven Posted November 26, 2008 Share Shimano does not make an 11T sprocket for the Sora 8 speed but they do for the 9 speed Sora. If you have a 9 speed Sora then you can also use any of the 9 speed Shimano 11T sprockets.
JoeK Posted November 26, 2008 Share I see, I have 8 speed, so 12T is the smallest I can go if I am correct?
Slave Posted November 27, 2008 Share I am not sure what make Shimano I have, but it is an 8 Spd. I have changed the 12t to an 11t cog and it works just fine. Did the change sometime in the past two weeks. If you do change from a 12t to an 11, you have to change the lockring.
JA-Q001 Posted November 27, 2008 Share You can fit an 11t mtb sproket, as long as it's also 8spd and as S2L said, you would have to change the lock ring as well, because the 11t sproket uses a smaller one.JA-Q0012008-11-27 02:30:
