I am quite new to mountain biking Ive done a few races etc but with an old trek, i want to buy myself a decent MTB later in the year but came across a GT Zaskar Race MTB, my question is if it is a good buy or not?

Componenets:

XCM Front shock

The price is R2000 second hand...?????

regardless of the year it is a great buy. Thumbs%20Up

the zaskar frame is excellent.you could pay as much as R1500 for a frame alone.

I have ridden a few zaskars over the years so i speak from personal experience.

p.s. a great buy can be a bad buy if the bike doesn't fit properly, so make sure the size is right.(give us an idea of your height and we can try guide you)

good luck with the buy!

I have been looking around. That price for a complete bike is really good, especially GT.

My first bike was a GT - sentimental about my first bike Tongue

The GT Zaskar is a legend. I have lusted after one ever since I got into cycling in the mid 90's. I finally got me a Zaskar Expert a few months ago and it is pure bliss.

If the bike is only R2000 and is even in moderatly good condition I wouldn't hesitate (Assuming it is the right size). I think a new GT Zaskar Expert (Bottom of the Zaskar Range) is in the 12-15K price range.

Thanks thanks...

I bought  the bike, and what a dream compared to my crappie Trek... I love it, found out that it has full XT components with Rolf rims I think, ok well they look cool so, and the frame is a large which fits like a glove, I have already ridden it about 150km in three days, cant get enoughBig%20smileBig%20smile

The only other thing is where can I find a lekke bunch of guys to ride with in pretoria in the brooklyn area??, I only know OneWheeled okes and they attract to much attention, hehehehehe??
